Your Spiritual Mission Begins

If we are to believe the warnings, missions from the U.S. is on the decline. The data that is available reveal some concerning truths that make one believe the warnings may be fair:

• Many of the previous major missionary movements have died out.
• There is a switch from U.S. born missionaries to foreign-born missionaries.
• US churches and agencies are struggling to recruit missionaries.

So, where will tomorrow’s missionaries come from?

And could it be that one of them is you?

Some missionaries tell of amazing moments when they heard the call of God to the work of sharing the gospel away from wherever they called home. They may be called to a foreign country or an urban center in a state far across the country. But wherever they are called to serve, they will tell you that it was God’s plan for them to serve the Kingdom as a full-time sharer of the Gospel.

But how does one hear the call of mission work from God? 

It is most often heard long before a missionary hits the mission field. God’s call may be heard through a book you read or a speaker you might have heard as a teen. It may be an urging you feel in your heart or a conversation about the future of the church when you are in college.

But however you hear the call to missions work, how can you determine if it is truly what God wants you to do? One of the best ways is to experience the joys and challenges of mission work first hand. Whether for a month or a semester, there is nothing like working side-by-side with an experienced missionary.

The purpose of the Global Outreach Connection is to give you the opportunity to experience mission work for yourself. We want to help you connect with seasoned missionaries as well as other teens and young adults interested in missions. We also want to make sure that finances do not hold you back from putting your toes in the waters of mission work.
